This course provides a comprehensive analysis of individual and group behaviour in organizations. Its purpose is to provide an understanding of how organizations can be managed more effectively and at the same time enhance the quality of employees' work life. Topics include motivation, rewarding behaviour, stress, individual and group behaviour, conflict, power and politics, leadership, job design, organizational structure, decision-making, communication and organizational change and development.

This course is an application of marketing principles to the hospitality industry. In the teaching-learning process, major marketing concepts are introduced and applied to the hospitality and tourism sector, with examples of a wide range of consumer products and services in the hotel/motel, restaurant, airline, cruise ships, travel and tours institutional food services.


Information Technology (IT) is a major force driving the travel and tourism industry of which the hospitality industry is a part. Every hospitality and tourism manager or aspiring manager must be IT-literate. This course addresses IT literacy for hospitality managers by focusing on IT offerings, strategies, and use in the hospitality industry. It covers the practical issues of identifying, evaluating, and using IT resources in hospitality firms. You’ll also learn how to use popular application software programs to carry out hospitality-related tasks.

This course will enable the student to understand the basic functions of human resource managers and their role in establishing high performance work teams. The student will learn how to apply employment law and various pay for performance systems.

The primary purpose of this course is to give the students a basic understanding of the supervisor’s role and responsibilities, a basic but comprehensive about different elements of the supervisor’s job, and a basic awareness and appreciation of the skills, attitudes, and abilities needed to and manage people successfully. A firm grasp of these three basics can provide a solid foundation for increasing skills and knowledge on the job and ultimately for achieving success through people at any level of management.

My goal in this course is to help you acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and implement the marketing, sales, and operational functions in the convention, meeting and trade show industry. We will accomplish this goal by reading, thinking, and writing about two types of decisions management are responsible for in the convention, meeting, and trade show industry. This covers the areas of:

·         Convention Sales

·         Convention management and services.

These decisions depend on defining the problems, determining the cause, taking corrective action and developing sound control strategies and plans. Underlying all of these activities must be an understanding of managing revenues and expenses to meet expected profits. Therefore, we will cover these topics as well.


This course examines managerial accounting concepts and techniques related to the hospitality industry. It emphasises the interpretation of financial statements and the use of decision support models to identify and solve business problems and assist with decision making within the hospitality industry


Every student pursuing a degree in business or management must understand the role financial management plays in business. This course introduces you to the world of finance by exposing you to tools, techniques, and concepts managers use to make finance-related decisions. Starting with an overview of financial management, it covers areas such as the financial environment, risk analysis, time-value of money, stock and bond valuation, cost of capital, capital budgeting, dividend policy, and multinational finance.
